The story is set in the village of Ashap, in Russia’s Perm Krai. Like many other dying rural settlements, it faces unemployment and a lack of prospects that threaten the future of its youth. Yet Ivan Likhanov — community coach and village head — is determined to change the tide. Believing that the fate of Ashap lies in the hands of its own people, he uses hockey to shape a new generation, inspiring change and rekindling hope in the hearts of the villagers.
