About video
Too often, society looks at people with advanced dementia as 'empty shells'. Dutch scientists watched people with dementia from up close, every day, for several years. What they discovered was astonishing: people with dementia do make contact, though it’s often very subtle. They still have needs and still want to connect to other people. Moments of confusion and clarity can alternate quickly. Their most important conclusion: caregivers have to look closely at their patients, because only from up close you can see them for who they are.
In our short movie we tried to make the results of this research tangible for a wider audience. We shot the scenes with Dutch actress (Coby Timp, 92) in a real nursing home, with real caregivers.
