There is a high-mountain village of Dunta, with its medieval buildings. Here lives Alan Baysangurov, a 50-year-old man. Having worked as a pilot of passenger aircraft "Yak-40”, he always jests that he “gave up steel “yaks” for the living ones” - mountain yaks. Together with hermit Valery, they are reviving a population of ancient animals once driven to extinction by poachers in Ossetia.
